Creating economic opportunities in our housing sector

To continue to drive investment and achieve our goal of a $40 billion economy by 2030, the Territory Government is seeking tenders for the development of a new form of social and affordable housing.

The launch of the tender process for the Community Housing Strategy is an important step in a project which will create better public housing, better communities and stimulate economic growth in construction and other industries.

Earlier this year the Government released the Community Housing Growth Strategy 2021-2030 Discussion Paper seeking input from key stakeholders on promoting growth of the sector in the Northern Territory.

The strategy will include a pipeline of initiatives, investments and works, including redevelopment opportunities and managing the construction of additional public housing dwellings across the Territory.

Our vision is to work with key stakeholders to develop a contemporary and affordable housing sector which benefits communities. We are focussed on providing more effective and cost efficient housing, and on supporting services to our clients across the Territory.

Territory-wide, almost 1,000 dwellings are managed by Community Housing Providers. It is important that we continually look at our public housing assets and see how sites can be redeveloped or managed to deliver the best outcomes for tenants and communities.
