Winner in Timber Research

The ARC Future Timber Hub are proud to advise that Adam Faircloth, a Timber Engineer with the Queensland Government Department of Agriculture & Fisheries (DAF) Forestry Research team at the Salisbury Research Facility, has been announced the winner and Australian representative for his research within the Future Timber Hub at the Institution of Structural Engineers’ 3rd Australian Young Researchers Conference.

Mr. Faircloth has been working on the hub project titled “Non-destructive evaluation of elastic material properties and acoustic characterisation of wood based massive panels” under the supervision of Dr. Chandan Kumar a Senior Scientist and the projects leader at DAF.

Mr. Faircloth will now travel to the United Kingdom in March 2020 to present his research and represent Australia at the 22nd Young Researchers Conference held at the Institution of Structural Engineers’ headquarters in London. This is a unique event that offers young researchers feedback from worldwide academics and industry leaders.

The Institution of Structural Engineers’ 3rd Australian Young Researchers Conference, where Mr. Faircloth presented, was held at Griffith University – Gold Coast Campus. It brought together PhD and MPhil students at varying levels of completion of their work from The University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology and Griffith University.
