To deliver on this priority, the NT Government has brought forward FIVE projects by approximately 12 months, to support the Territory’s construction industry and create local jobs.
The projects will create around 500 direct and indirect jobs.
Upon coming to Government in 2016, projects worth $120 million were brought forward and many of these projects are now significantly underway or coming to completion.
Today’s announcement (February 7 2019) sees a second pipeline of $125.6 million in Government infrastructure projects identified and fast-tracked.
Bringing forward these projects will not affect the Territory’s budget bottom line. The Government has set the priorities of the infrastructure budget to ensure a continuous pipeline of construction for Territory businesses.
The 2019 projects are:
1. A New Palmerston Fire Station
The project will meet the growing demands for responsive fire services to the Palmerston and Coolalinga regions. Estimate cost of $25 million, expected to deliver approximately 180 direct and indirect jobs for the duration of the project.
