Four BVN projects have been included in the shortlist of Regional Architecture Awards making them nominees for a Queensland Architecture Award that will be announced on Friday 8 June 2018.
The shortlisted projects include the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure Centre (GCSLC) that has been nominated for both a Public Architecture Award and an Interior Architecture Award. The GCSLC was one of the venues for the recent successful Commonwealth Games and is now a valued legacy for the community providing facilities for children and adult basketball competitions throughout the year.
Also shortlisted is the huge glass artwork by Danie Mellor in 480 Queen Street, that transforms the journey through an escalator that connects two of Brisbane’s major city streets Queen and Adelaide.
The workplace for the Energy Corporation has been shortlisted in the Interior Category, this workplace has constrained views and light that resulted in a subtle interior garden scape.
The Defence Logistics Transformation Programme (DLTP) designed by BVN in association with Conrad Gargett has been nominated for a Commercial Architecture Award and a Colorbond Award for Steel Architecture. The DLTP is a major project involving replacing World War II era buildings with new buildings designed to enhance and support the contemporary logistics function.
