Keystone panels used in Virgin Australia lounges

Keystone provided acoustic ceiling panels in Virgin Australia’s Sydney, Canberra and Brisbane lounges. Keystone’s KEY LENA solid and perforated to custom shapes gave this creative and innovative project by Tonkin Zulaikha Greer Architects a glamourous and luxurious feel.

With an endless list of pre-finished options to choose from, KEY-LENA panels can be perforated, patterned, slotted or shaped to provide maximum noise reduction. For even better acoustic performance, KEY LENA can be combined with K100 backing.

The design for the Virgin Australia Lounges has been conceived as the next step in domestic air travel, a pleasurable experience rivalling the glamour days of air travel. The lounge provides all the requirements of the modern traveller: a working hub, internet hook-up, relaxing library, dining and drinking spaces, and a verandah to watch the world go by.

An airport can be perceived as a place of movement – of planes, people and luggage. This is the underlying architectural theme for the Virgin Australia Lounge, allowing guests to glide from one space to another, avoiding the clumsiness and confusion of travel. The lounge has been conceived as a set of loosely interconnected spaces – a short stay, verandah, hub, library, bar etc – all visually held together by the ‘net’ ceiling, which establishes the organic geometry for the entire space. The recesses between the interconnecting ceiling panels conceal the myriad of required services.

KEY-LENA architectural panels are available in a wide range of pre-finished options and tailored to suit any environment. KEY-LENA is suitable for commercial and residential applications and is an excellent choice for feature panels. They can be used on internal wall panels and internal ceiling panels. KEY-LENA has a large selection of decorative finishes. They have a high degree of strength and excellent machining capabilities. They come in large panels sizes and can be shaped and angled. KEY-LENA perforation and slot panels are available in five standard patterns.
