The TCCI welcomed the new Macquarie Point Masterplan – which includes provision for residential development.
“The new Masterplan is a good one, especially to include residential development,” TCCI CEO Michael Bailey said.
“Every major development in the world like this one includes housing. You don’t want precincts like Macquarie Point to shut down at 5 o’clock.
“Having residential and commercial elements makes sense, which of course will come under the Hobart City Council’s planning scheme.
“The TCCI would support a range of housing options to be explored, but especially housing for Tasmanians who are working in the City of Hobart.”
Mr Bailey said the new Masterplan includes many elements of the 2016 MONA Vision, as well as provision for the Northern Suburbs Light Rail project.
“To celebrate Aboriginal history, as well as an Antarctic and Science precinct are crucial parts of the whole development.”
