As part of the NSW Government’s economic stimulus package we are waiving a range of licence and permit fees for 12 months.

From 15 April 2020 new application and renewal fees for trade or specialist contractor licences will be waived or discounted.

From 20 April 2020 new application and renewal fees for home building tradesperson certificates will be waived.

If you hold a trade or specialist contractor licence or a home building tradesperson certificate you will not be charged when you apply to renew online or at Service NSW.

We will waive the fee for the minimum renewal term or discount fees by 1 year. For example:

  • for trade or specialist contractor 1-year licences, we will waive the 1-year fee (minimum term)
  • for trade or specialist contractor 3-year licences, we will discount the licence fee by 1 year
  • for home building tradesperson certificates and home building trade or specialised supervisor certificates we will waive the 3-year fee (minimum term).

The fee waiver does not apply for change of class, changes to the licence or replacement of the licence.

For more information and other permits and fees being waived see our NSW Fair Trading COVID-19 FAQs which we update regularly.
