Frasers Property Australia has unveiled plans for a $440m masterplanned community that will shape the future of Melbourne’s west. Designed with convenience as its central premise, residents of Mambourin will be within five minutes of shops, services, amenities and transport – everything they need for modern living.
Located 40km west of Melbourne on the existing Region al Rail Link between Werribee and Wyndham Vale, the Mambourin development will transform 115ha of vacant land into a thriving mixed-use community set around a vibrant new town centre.
Mambourin is a rural locality with a population of just four, according to the 2016 Census, and is named after a tribesman in the Barrabool tribe. In homage to the area’s historic significance, Frasers Property will maintain the Mambourin name for the new community.
Sarah Bloom, General Manager – Victoria, Frasers Property Australia, says Mambourin will be home to more than 3,500 people living in a wide variety of housing types, enjoying unrivalled convenience and amenity.
“The exceptional level of connectivity and amenity planned at Mambourin will create a unique five-minute community, where everyday needs are within a walkable distance from home,” Ms Bloom says.
Stage 1 plans for Mambourin have received Wyndham City Council approval and feature a central 5.4ha wetland and park, with an all-ages play area, fitness nodes, walking and cycling paths, shelters, barbecues and more.
“Frasers Property has a proven track record in creating places that focus on health and wellbeing that enable residents to live quality lifestyles. Mambourin will offer residents a range of opportunities for outdoor activity, fitness and leisure,” says Ms Bloom.
“The jewel in the crown will be an exclusive residents’ club, featuring swimming pools, a multi-use court, gym, function rooms, cafe and barbecue area. It will provide an early hub for residents to engage in community activities, meet neighbours and build the strong social connections that are the foundations of sustainable communities.”
Mambourin has been designed around a proposed new train station and plans include 1,200 residential lots, a private school, performing arts centre, library and kindergarten, vast open spaces as well as a major town centre and commercial business district.
Peri Macdonald, Executive General Manager – Retail, Frasers Property Australia says the Mambourin town centre will harness the latest in cutting edge design, technology and innovation to service the entire region.
“This will truly be the town centre of the future and one that will attract shoppers not just from Mambourin but surrounding suburbs, in what is a burgeoning catchment area,” Mr Macdonald says.
“Frasers Property will draw on its extensive expertise in mixed-use developments to create the best in retail amenity, tailored to the needs of its future residents.”
Plans for the town centre include 25,000sqm in retail floor space with a full-line supermarket, discount department store, 30-40 specialty stores and an entertainment precinct with proposed cinema.
Frasers Property is currently developing what is planned to be the world’s most sustainable retail centre in Melbourne’s east on a former quarry site, Burwood Brickworks.
The first land lots at Mambourin are planned to be released to the market in April 2018 at the opening of the community’s sales centre, to be known as the Mambourin Discovery Centre. Contact Frasers Property on 13 38 38 for further information.
